Origin Story

It all started with a grand imagination and a passion for cooking. The founder of the Wand and Spoon, Marrista, always wanted to try their favorite foods from books, movies, and TV but wasn’t sure how. With this dream, they created a Fictional Foods series on YouTube to bring these foods to life and share the experience with anyone who might want to try them. After moving to Japan and occasionally cooking at events, they decided to work toward opening a permanent cafe featuring Halloween and Fictional-themed foods. And so the Wand and Spoon was born. All profits from pop-ups, cooking classes, and events bring us one step closer to our goal: sharing delicious foods with a fantastical twist!

Meet the Witch

Marrista (they/them) is a professional chef and baker currently living in Tokyo, Japan. They have loved baking and all things magical since they were young and always want to share their culinary talents with loved ones. They went to school for hospitality management, specializing in culinary. After working as a chef and baker for companies including Disney Parks, Erin McKenna’s, and Norwegian Cruise Line they moved to Japan to try something new. Now they hope to open a cafe selling foods that blend the Kowaii (scary) and Kawaii (cute) cultures.
